The Parade of Homes opens, a free Bowie night in Holladay, and 103 degrees Saturday
Plus five bandas at the Fairpark, a Midvale sports bar frying chicken in beef tallow, and El Asadero's last night after 17 years.
The Salt Lake Parade of Homes turns 80 today and opens 30 houses to anybody with a $25 ticket. The addresses do not exist publicly until this morning, which is the part people forget every year, and the whole thing closes Sunday and Monday. So the weekend you are picturing is really today and tomorrow.
Plan the rest of it around the sky. It hits 100 today and 103 both Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows stuck in the low 70s, and there is enough wildfire smoke drifting in from northern Utah and California to push the Wasatch Front toward unhealthy air for anybody with lungs that notice. The evening stuff is where this weekend lives.
