Best same-day plan See Social Distortion at The Union
Social Distortion brings Mike Ness and the band's catalog of punk and rockabilly songs to The Union Wednesday night. The venue opens its doors at 6pm for a 7pm all-ages show.
Our take
Use the full hour between doors and showtime if you want to settle in before the band starts. The venue lists this as an all-ages show.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: Ticket prices and availability can change after publication, so buy only through the venue's official Live Nation link.

Steenblik Park reopens with its Dairy Cats intact
Steenblik Park at 1050 W 800 North reopened Monday after a $750,000 renovation. The 0.61-acre park now has updated playground equipment, more seating, a shade structure, new trees, and improved landscaping. The familiar Dairy Cats sculptures remain part of the park.
Salt Lake City International Airport ties for seventh among large airports
Salt Lake City International Airport tied for seventh in passenger satisfaction among large North American airports in the 2026 J.D. Power study. Travelers gave the airport strong marks for its terminals, food and retail choices, and staff. Ease of moving through the airport, including security waits, remained the weaker part of the score.

Worth the weeknight stop Shop the West Valley City Farmers Market
The West Valley City Farmers Market fills Centennial Park Thursday evening with seasonal produce, local makers, live music, and food trucks. The market accepts SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, and Power of Produce benefits.
Our take
Bring kids to the market club for the Smarty Pants Salad activity. Participants can earn POP bucks to spend with produce vendors.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: This is an outdoor market, so check the evening forecast before making it your dinner plan.

Skip unless you are 60+ or caregiving Use the Senior Health & Wellness Fair
Inside the South Jordan Community Center, the city's Senior Programs team brings health resources and service providers into one open-house fair Thursday. Breakfast runs from 8am to 10am, the fair opens at 9am, and lunch is served from 11:30am to noon.
Our take
Go near 9am if you want breakfast and enough time to speak with the service tables before lunch. The fair uses an open-house format.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: This sits on the city's Senior Programs calendar. It is useful for older adults and caregivers, but it is not a general wellness expo.

Worth it for the full-album set Hear At Fillmore East at Murray Park
End of the Line performs the Allman Brothers Band's At Fillmore East double album in full Saturday, followed by more Allman Brothers songs. The general-admission concert runs for three hours at Murray Park Amphitheater.
Our take
The promised centerpiece is the entire live album, not a loose greatest-hits set. Buy from Murray Parks and Recreation or Showpass, the two outlets the city recognizes.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: This is an outdoor, general-admission show. Bring a layer for the late set and avoid third-party ticket sellers.

Book if Zeppelin is your Saturday pick Hear Zeppelin USA at Sandy Amphitheater
Zeppelin USA brings its Led Zeppelin tribute show to Sandy Amphitheater Saturday night. The outdoor concert starts at 7pm on the amphitheater's final September weekend.
Our take
Pick this over Murray if you want the Led Zeppelin songbook and a seated amphitheater instead of a three-hour Allman Brothers tribute.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: This is a tribute act, not a Led Zeppelin reunion. The show is outdoors, so dress for the temperature after sunset.

No. 11 BYU beats Colorado State 41-23
BYU moved to 3-0 Saturday with a 41-23 road win over Colorado State. LJ Martin ran for 176 yards and scored three first-quarter touchdowns, while the Cougars produced 559 total yards. BYU has a bye this week before playing at TCU on October 3.

Worth it for noodle soup and dumplings Order beef stewed noodle soup at Mom's Kitchen
Mom's Kitchen serves Chinese and Taiwanese dishes from a small dining room on State Street in South Salt Lake. The current menu includes beef stewed noodle soup, ma-po tofu, hot and sour cabbage, shrimp chow mein, dumplings, and beef rolls.
Our take
Start with the beef stewed noodle soup and one dumpling order, then add ma-po tofu if two people are sharing. You get a bowl of soup, a shared plate, and enough contrast to learn what the kitchen does well.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: The menu is large. Find the beef stewed noodle soup under the noodle dishes before defaulting to familiar takeout plates.

Worth it for the playground Use Magna Regional Park after the splash pad closes
Magna Regional Park covers nearly 62 acres with an inclusive destination playground, walking paths, a multi-purpose field, restrooms, and reservable pavilions. The county has closed the inclusive splash pad for the rest of 2026, but the playground and dry park amenities remain the reason to go this fall.
Our take
Come for the inclusive playground and a lap on the walking paths. Pack a snack and use a pavilion instead of promising kids a water stop that is no longer open.
โ ๏ธ Heads up: The splash pad is closed for the remainder of the year. Do not use old listings that still send families to 2750 South and 8400 West.
