Common questions
What is the minimum age for an escape room in Salt Lake City?
There is no countywide minimum. From youngest to oldest: Arcadia at Escape on 13th is set for 6 and up, Escapology's Kids Mode for 7 to 14, Walk the Plank for 8 and up, most Alcatraz rooms for 10 and up, and The Escape Game recommends 13 and up. Escapology, More than Mysteries, Red Door and Wizard Hysteria in Draper take all ages.
How long does an escape room take in Salt Lake City?
The game itself is usually 60 minutes. Escapology, Escape on 13th and The Escape Game ask you to arrive 15 minutes early, and Alcatraz asks for 10. At Escapology a late team plays only the time that is left, and Alcatraz locks the Prison Bus Escape door at the booking time and turns late arrivals away without a refund.
What if we get stuck, or someone needs to leave?
At The Escape Game you can ask for as many hints as you want with no penalty, and you can step out of the room at any time because you are not really locked in.
Can you walk in to an escape room without booking?
Yes at The Escape Game in Murray, which says walk-ins are always welcome but recommends booking to get the time you want. A Great Escape at Gardner Village recommends reservations but does not require them.
Are escape rooms scary for kids?
Alcatraz rates every room on a one-to-four ghost Spooky Scale, and a one-ghost room has flickering lights and odd sounds but no jump scares. At Escapology, Haunted House is the horror room. The Escape Game says its games have no adult language or gross content, though themes like a prison break can feel intense.
Which escape rooms in Salt Lake County take company or large-group events?
Escapology sells team-building and full venue buy-out packages, The Escape Game has a full-time team that plans large parties and corporate events, and Room Zero rents its whole facility before or after regular hours.
